Police Chiefs Association Criminal Justice Scholarship

Hello criminal justice degree seekers, here is a great opportunity for a criminal justice scholarship. The criminal justice scholarship that I will give information on is for students in Florida; however, there are similar scholarships for students in other states. The Tampa Bay Area Police Chiefs Association (TBAPCA) has set-up the TBAPCA Criminal Justice Scholarship program to help support students who are seeking criminal justice degrees. The association will award three $1000 one-year scholarships.

Students must be US citizens and a resident of the state of Florida. Applicants must be accepted to, enrolled in, and/or attending an accredited Florida college or university. The student must be seeking a criminal justice degree, or similar field. Applicants should be upstanding citizens, and will need a recommendation from a TBAPCA member. Lastly, students need to submit an essay on why they have chosen their major, and how they envision their career after they have graduated; and they need to write about why they think they should win the scholarship.

More information about the scholarship can be received by writing to the current TBAPCA scholarship committee chairman, c/o The Holmes Beach Police Department, 5801 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach, FL 34217.

This 2011/12 academic year scholarship deadline has passed, but students should review the application to understand what is expected of them. The application can be found at http://www.sarasota.usf.edu/Students/FinancialAid/PDF/1112_TampaBayChiefsOfPolice.pdf.

As stated, the deadline for this academic year’s scholarship has passed, and this particular scholarship is only for Florida residents; however, high school seniors should remember this opportunity when applying for scholarships next year. Also, students in other states should check with their local or regional Police Chiefs Associations to find if they also offer a similar scholarship. Criminal justice scholarships are all over the place, so students should seek out every opportunity; and we will continue to post opportunities as well - national, regional, and local. Good luck.
