Enlisted Spouses Club Scholarship

The Enlisted Spouses’ Club of Ft. Meade is an organization that promotes social and cultural activities for its members, and to support worthwhile services and community welfare projects. They are proud to announce 2 types of scholarships to the spouses’ of enlisted retirees and spouses of enlisted active duty men and women in all military branches, including Guard and Reserves. The 2 types of scholarships are for full-time enrolled spouses and part-time enrolled spouses. Full-time enrollees will receive $1000 and part-time enrollees will receive $500 towards their tuition; the scholarship will be paid directly to the institution the winners are attending.

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must: *Be the spouse of an Enlisted Active Duty Military Member from any branch of service including Guard and Reserves, or the Enlisted Spouse of a Retiree of any branch of service including Guard and Reserves.
*Their military sponsor must be assigned to Fort George G. Meade, NSA, Detachment Units to Fort George G. Meade, or Detachment Units to NSA, or live on Ft Meade or live in a 30 mile radius of Ft Meade.
*Applicant must be a volunteer in the Military Community.
*Provide proof of enrollment at any accredited college, university, business or vocational school showing full-time or part-time status. Masters and PhD students must demonstrate they are taking a full course load for their program of study.
Applicants must submit the following:

*Photocopy of the front and back of the applicant’s Military ID and the Sponsor’s Military ID (Social Security Number should be blacked out).
*Two proofs of the Sponsor’s residency: a copy of a rental, mortgage, lease agreement or housing contract, and a copy of the top portion of a cable, land line or home utility bill.
*A 500-750 word essay on “What are the benefits and challenges of being a military spouse?” and “How do you cope with the Challenges?”
*A letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or a supervisor in your volunteer efforts.
*A letter of recommendation from a supervisor in your volunteer efforts.
*An official transcripts from your school.
*A written summary of your volunteerism, education, and/or employment over the last 5 years. The application has sample chart to use.

The application, recommendations, and transcripts must all be sent and postmarked August 1, 2011. The scholarships may be used at any accredited college, university, business or vocational school for one year not to exceed the amount awarded.For more information on the Enlisted Spouses’ Club you can visit this site: http://www.ftmeadeesc.org/.
